Hi, welcome to Soundboard Prank Calls Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Tom the Pissed Off Roofer page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Chugboat (Talk) 12:08, May 26, 2010

Re: special requests Edit

Okay, I can do that for you. Might take me a few days to get them finished, though. I've been in the mood to do some transcribing again, anyway. ThePhonePirate 22:57, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, the Rick vs. Frank articles and transcripts are finished. Enjoy!

Alan---could you do a page for Brian, the foul-mouthed kid? I can't believe there's not already one on here for him... 18:05, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

{C}Re: Bob Chandler

Maybe I got a bit wordy. I'd been reading the CWCwiki section on Bob and wanted to expand the article from the stub it was. Also, I didn't write anything about him or his manchild that wasn't true (just check out the wiki) and most of that was written when he was still alive. All I did recently was reword it a bit to break-up some of the longer sentences for easier reading and to acknowledge his recent passing. ThePhonePirate 05:36, October 5, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Satanic Racist

I don't know what happened to the info on his prank call history. I didn't write that page, except for adding the bit about his depiction being Dent "Wildman" Myers and adding some quotes of his and linking the article to various categories. I don't really know much about his history, personally. The idea of a seperate prank call history for Duncan is a good one, since it's quite extensive (just like his quotes page). Re: Re: Bob Chandler

Thinking about it, you're right about a lot of the information being irrelevant. I went ahead and pared it down quite a bit and tried to keep only the relevant details. I'll have to look into the history of prank calls to him a bit more before I can write that section. CWCwiki has an article on it, so that will be a good start and I've seen posts about calls to him on MistahBlonde's and TheGoldenPhone's blogs.ThePhonePirate 05:46, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Message from admin

Hi Alan/Wikipedian,

I haven't been on here much at all in recent times but have recently made a few changes, such as the new group photo picture on the front page. Thanks for all the work you've done on here, the amount of information on here compared to last year is really impressive.

As the root admin is there anything I can do to help you improve this wiki? I may have missed a lot of developments in regards to this. I noticed a discussion where you said you would ask me to make you an admin, I'd be happy to do that if you want. I don't think there are any admins beside myself at present - I've never looked in to how I can change the status of users on here.

Let me know if I can help.

Chugboat 11:42, April 30, 2012 (UTC)

Ok. You should how have admin status. Would it be a good idea to give both yourself and ThePhonePirate admin privileges? I have asked him and he says he would also like to be one.

Also, I've just deliberately deleted three pages on this wiki because of some recent events - have a look at my talk page. I don't normally like getting rid of any information on here, however trivial, but in this case I thought I should make an exception. I downloaded them before deleting them so they will be easy to restore in the future if needed.

Chugboat 14:08, May 1, 2012 (UTC)

Hi the Pig Sex guy and the Canadian Teen photos that I posted are my  interpretation of their likenesses.

Last year, I made a ton of prank calls to a Midas dealership in Winchester, VA.  I used the soundboards of Bob Chandler, Frank Rizzo, Frank Garrett, and Bail Bondsman.  I was going to edit the calls to put on Youtube, but my computer got all messed up, and I was unable to get into any of my folders.  It was probably because there was a virus in one of the programs I downloaded.  I had to format the entire drive, thus getting rid of all of my wanted files.  Now I'm trying to find a way to get those calls back because I'm pretty sure they were recorded on the other end, because the manager called the police multiple times (just a note, he usually refers to the police as "the law", when he says stuff like "I'm gonna call the law").  I got him very pissed off eventually when he was yelling at me to come to his place when he said "COME ON DOWN!! LET'S HAVE A PARTY!!".  Can you help me find a way to get those calls if they were recorded on the manager's end?

You could've run a virus scan and eliminated the virus without formatting your drive. :|
Also, try not to post images that aren't commonly accepted interpretations. As for recovering anything from their end, I'm no lawyer or attorney, but I'm fairly certain in telling you that, assuming they ever did record any of the calls, and assuming they even still have possession of those recordings, should they exist, you'd have no legal basis to obtain the audio from them. Sorry.
And, please, post about matters relevant to the wiki from now on, alright? Thanks. The Wikipedian (talk) 16:43, February 10, 2013 (UTC)

Audio FilesEdit

Had a great idea today! Since many classic prank calls tend to disappear, sometimes forever, off of YouTube and other places, when people close their accounts during scares, etc., why not preserve them here in Ogg Vorbis format, so that they won't be lost? I already tried it with Deacon Frost calls Duncan and More and a few others and it seems to work perfectly.

I even found a site that allows conversions of common audio file formats like .wav and .mp3 into .ogg format. [1]

ThePhonePirate (talk) 18:55, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

By George! You, sir, have a brilliant idea! The Wikipedian (talk) 01:12, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

Problem with spam filterEdit

Hi Wikipedian. I've written an article for this soundboard victim but the spam filter blocks is blocking the word F*aggot. Is there a way around this? Thanks for your time. 04:10, July 6, 2013 (UTC)

I just read the article on Chinaman.  Someone completely changed the description and the quotes and wrote in "I AM AN OCTAL!" and "OCTAL" respectively.  I'm not sure if the contributor was supposed to be serious about it

I'll take a look at the spam filters. It might be a Wikia-wide thing, but I'll do my best. As for Chinaman, for starters, he said "Doctal" (He was a doctor, and Chinese people notoriously confuse L's and R's). If the edits are in poor taste, they can easily be reversed. As for you, might I recommend registering? One account will let you edit pretty much every last wiki in the network (besides Uncyclopedia). You'll have access to more features, plus your IP address will be hidden. Thanks for notifying me about all of this. ^_^ The Wikipedian (talk) 15:23, July 7, 2013 (UTC)

Chinaman article Edit

I did not mean to put this message under the spam filter topic:

I just read the article on Chinaman.  Someone completely changed the description and the quotes and wrote in "I AM AN OCTAL!" and "OCTAL" respectively.  I'm not sure if the contributor was supposed to be serious about it

P.S. I didn't create the spam filter topic and had no idea that my message on the Chinaman article was going to be under that topic.  I meant for it to be a completely different topic regarding this website.

I blocked the user, and reverted the vandalism back to where it was last a normal article (anyone registered can do that). Now, then, let me try something: faggot. Seems to work for me. I'll try investigating that a little further. Anyhow, the Chinaman article's back to normal. If you want, I'll teach you how to revert bad edits; it's pretty simple. Oh, and one more thing: Just sign your posts using Source mode, using four tildes [~~~~]. Well, thanks for stopping by. Any other questions or problems, just let me know, all right? ^_^ The Wikipedian (talk) 15:36, July 7, 2013 (UTC)

when you said "Now, then, let me try something: faggot. Seems to work for me", what did you mean by that?

TheDamonGant (talk) 22:23, July 7, 2013 (UTC)TheDamonGant

I was just testing out whether I could write the word faggot. It seems you also can, so now I'm all confused about that post about the spam filter not permitting the word to be typed. Either it's just something in place for unregistered users, or there's something else I'm missing to all of this. :/ The Wikipedian (talk) 00:11, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

I think the problem is that I can't create an article with the word "faggot" as part of the title. This is the message I'm getting when I try to save the article:
The page you wanted to save was blocked by the spam filter.
This is probably caused by a blacklisted link or pagename.
Block ID #13794
The following link, text or pagename is what triggered our spam filter: Faggot
If you think this is wrong, please contact us here. Please, provide a copy of this message when reporting any problem.
The text was found in the page's summary. 08:27, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

What's the title of the article you're trying to create? From the sounds of it, the filter isn't something individually created for this project, but rather something made by Wikia. If you tell me the title, assuming it's relevant, I can try and create it, or figure out a way to bypass it. The Wikipedian (talk) 18:56, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

It's just Silly Faggot. I've tried creating the article though the red link at Soundboard Prank Calls Wiki:Requested articles as well as the drop down menu on the top right corner. I suppose I could try an alternate title like Silly F*aggot or Silly Fagot and then have a registered user move it to a correct title. 02:00, July 10, 2013 (UTC)

It's just like I suspected. The block filter is built into Wikia itself, and there's not much I can do. Try spelling the article with one G instead of two. But, please, register an account, and you can edit any Wiki you want in the whole network, okay? The Wikipedian (talk) 15:27, July 10, 2013 (UTC)

Need pages deletedEdit

Hi, I was trying to create some new Victims by State categories and made a typo with the spelling of the name, but didn't notice until it was too late. However, I was never given admin powers by Chugboat, so I can't fix them, as I would like to. So, if you can, I'd appreciate it if you could delete them, so I can start over.

The pages I would like deleted are Cateogory:Victims from Rhode Island and Victims from Rhode Island.

Thanks in advance! ThePhonePirate (talk) 20:44, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

You were never given admin stats? Well, the "Cateogory" page and the "Victims" page are one and the same. As for deleting them, can't you simply move (rename) the article title, if you haven't done so already? You don't need to be an admin to do that. If you'd prefer I outright delete the article, I can do that, but renaming it seems like a simpler alternative. The Wikipedian (talk) 02:15, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
No, I never got admin stats. And yes, I tried to move them. It said I didn't have the proper permissions to move them or rename them to "Category", so I don't see what what else I can do. I wanted to create a category page and I made a typo that I didn't see until it was too late. That's why I was asking if you could just delete both, so I can start over fresh.ThePhonePirate (talk) 04:12, July 23, 2013 (UTC)
They're gone. Weird that Chugboat never gave you admin stats, though. The Wikipedian (talk) 16:32, July 23, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, ThePhonePirate, just read this - I didn't realise you didn't get admin permissions. I intended to give them to both yourself and The Wikipedian. You should have them now. Chugboat (talk) 12:58, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

A few requestsEdit

Hi. I was wondering if you could move The old Gregory Stevens to Gregory Stevens (original)? I think the former is a more likely search term and generally looks better. If you look at Category:Prank callers, there are two prank caller articles Gregory Stevens (pranker) and Wilford Brimley (Prank Caller). You might want to decide which descriptor is best so as to make it consistant with future articles. Also there are pending requests on Talk:Duncan (apparently someone visited Duncan's gravesite!). Thanks. 19:33, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

I spent a few days contemplating this, and I believe the simple solution is to merge both articles into one: Gregory Stevens (prank caller). Btw, when using disambiguation tags, unless something's a proper noun, you don't capitalize it within the parentheses, so I'm gonna put Wilford Brimley (Prank Caller) in lowercase, although that's a relatively minor issue. I'll get to work on those two articles soon enough, but first, I'll go see what's happening on Duncan's talk page. Thanks for bringing everything up! Much appreciated, as always. ^_^ The Wikipedian (talk) 14:15, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

By the way I left a message on Chugboat's talk page about a possible redesign of the infobox template. I also made a template for Recentchanges-summary which, I think, makes navigating the site a lot easier. 04:34, October 6, 2013 (UTC)

O_o Your IP address changed in the midst of your edits. Are you sure you don't want to register? Anyhow, what do you think is wrong with the current infobox? Just wondering. Meanwhile, I also need to create some policy pages and writing guidelines, on top of other slated projects. I might even use YouTube to promote the wiki. I mean, we could get some background info on victims directly from the callers who discovered them. As for leaving a message on Chugboat's page, keep in mind,he's not really involved with the project anymore, hence me being the new bureaucrat (basically the top position, above even a regular administrator). I'm open to your ideas, though. Anyhow, thanks for the updates. ^_^ The Wikipedian (talk) 15:09, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

One problem with the current infobox is that you can only use so many fields. When I originally updated Bob Chandler's article for {{death date and age}} the infobox displayed an error ("Too many parameters") and blocked certain information. I also think its better organized, easier to use, provides more information, and generally has a better look. I'm trying to add a second image field in the "Information" section so real-life victim images can be added. I have a few ideas for promoting the wiki if you'd like to hear them. 18:37, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

You have pretty valid ideas. I'm game. But, let's make a deal: You register, and I'll make you an Administrator (Mind you, I'm now Bureaucrat status, meaning I have top-level authority like Chugboat), and then you can help me write some policy pages, which I'd have Sysop protection on to prevent reckless editing. Sound good? The Wikipedian (talk) 11:59, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

I appreciate the offer but I'm not sure I'm qualified to be an admin. I'm just a fan and don't really have any insider information or anything. I used to have an account on Wikipedia but I kind of had a bad experience there so I usually prefer to edit anonymously.

Just some random thoughts:

  1. I'm not familiar with the process for starting a wiki but you might want to consider changing the wiki's skin. Something similar to Wikipedia would be ideal (e.g. Uncyclopedia) but even smaller wikis like Memory Alpha or TV Tropes have decent layouts. Would this be possible or is the wiki pretty much stuck with it?
  2. The url for the wiki seems very long. instead of might be an easier address to remember. Shortening the url or even creating a redirect could increase traffic. Uncyclopedia, for example, uses "" as a redirect url.
  3. While the wiki doesn't have a lot of activity yet, it'd be great to get some discussions going in the forums. Maybe pranksters could take requests from fans via a forum poll? This would be a good way to promote the site on YouTube. If it caught on the Soundboard Wiki might eventually be able to host events on the forums.
  4. This might be a long shot but getting some ex-pranksters on board, particularly those who've run their own websites in the past, would definately be a good start in building a solid userbase. I left a message on the forums awhile back when Wilford Brimley made this video. 21:42, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

Some notes about the main pageEdit

I used the {{link}} template on the original test page so it wouldn't have a lot of red links. Editors can link articles normally when updating the main page. In the "News" secion, I'd suggest adding direct links to soundboard calls since they're probably not going to be created right away.

I've been adding some suggestions for the DYK and News sections on the talk pages here and here. Adding more DYK hooks should fix the current repeating error on the page. I also made a preliminary sandbox for the anniversary section but there's not enough infomation for specifc dates. I'm thinking the best option is by listing entries by month but I'm not sure how best to format it. 19:06, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

If you want my honest opinion, some of these contributions are great, but you might be overdoing it. I have bigger priorities, namely policy pages and enlisting more editors, not to mention expanding on the actual content. Furthermore, I worry that, while you have noble intentions, some other malicious user, also unregistered, will exploit these site vulnerabilties.Let me do my job, all right? You should focus more on editing articles for the time being. Btw, Uncyclopedia doesn't have a .org URL arbitrarily: It used to be an independent website at that URL, before Wikia acquired it. The Wikipedian (talk) 22:14, October 29, 2013 (UTC)

You know what? Would you be willing to make an announcements page for here and/or a YouTube channel? The Wikipedian (talk) 15:49, November 13, 2013 (UTC)

Mexican F*ggot article deleted by WikiaEdit

Hi, there. Just got the following message from an unregistered user:

":Is there any chance Mexican F*ggot can be restored? It was apparently deleted for the same reasons as Springfield Pervert. 15:31, February 5, 2014 (UTC)"

Any chance you can do something about this? Thanks.

ThePhonePirate (talk) 19:17, February 5, 2014 (UTC)

Never mind. I managed to restore it and the Walsh's Mexican article myself. ThePhonePirate (talk) 17:50, February 8, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for my prolonged absence. Personal and technical  issues kept me away. Just about everything's resolved, though.  I'll run a check of the article's contents, to see if there's any cleanup needed. If nothing else, we might need to rename some articles to circumvent Wikia bureaucrats (the red-tape kind, not my position). The Wikipedian (talk) 15:38, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, I don't want to come across as demanding if you would, but could I be considered for admin powers? I've been dedicated to this wiki for about a year and a half now, reason being is that I usually check the wiki fairly often (sorry about my recent abscence) and I revert vandlism pretty quickly. One other thing is that I don't want to have to wait for you or another admin to get on to block vandals, where I could do that a lot sooner and stop annoying edits sooner. I am mostly just looking out for the Wiki's security, I know a decent bit about editing pages and source and so on. If you could consider me for this role, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! Themanofwikia (talk) 01:45, February 23, 2014 (UTC)

Listen, you guys. Now that I have two admins, and I'm back in business, I can confer with you on something I had a long time to think about. I know there's been issues in the past with victims suddenly becoming overwhelmed with calls due to this wiki publicing their personal info that was previously more esoteric knowledge limited to a handful of people. We have to be concerned for their privacy rights, but we can't just keep deleting articles because of possible privacy concerns, ad infinitum, so I'm proposing that when it comes to victims whose "dox" aren't already common knowledge (Such as Tom, JP, etc.), we should verify with the prank callers associated with that victim regarding whether they're okay with us publicizing such info; and if they aren't, we won't list it. In cases where the info was already stated here, but it's become an issue and/or they ask us to remove it, rather than permanently delete the article, how about we just copy the entire text of the original article, save it to a word document, then, if it's not possible to outright delete prior edits, delete the article and repost it with their private info redacted. What do you say? I want input from both of you. The Wikipedian (talk) 17:38, March 16, 2014 (UTC)

I like that idea so far. I think we should also come up with a set of rules or posting guidelines for articles on victims, the first of which should be: "This site is not a phone book for would-be copycat pranksters. You will not post victims' phone numbers, whether business or residential, on this wiki. Any pictures of a victim's home or business that may display their phone number shall be edited prior to posting so that the number is covered, blurred-out or otherwise, no longer visible. Any such info, if found to have been posted, will be immediately deleted. Repeated violations of this rule may result in the suspension of your editing privelages." ThePhonePirate (talk) 22:30, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

We've needed guidelines for a while, and that's brilliant. I also have ideas for more articles. The Wikipedian (talk) 12:15, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Let's beginEdit

Okay, I started on the proposed rules. You can see them here: User:ThePhonePirate/Test_page Take a look at them, let me know what you think and feel free to make any additions or changes. ThePhonePirate (talk) 22:44, April 15, 2014 (UTC)

Weird that I'm only now receiving any kind of notification for this. In any case, my initial read was mostly relegated to the overall tone of your wording (something of a recurring issue, eh?), which I'll edit once you've completed your rough draft. Speaking of which, there still need to be guidelines for how to actually write when contributing, which I'll start thinking of immediately. On your end, include something about not posting speculative or totally unverified info, rumors, etc. We've had some of that in the past, and it's helpful to remind everyone to stick to the facts or common knowledge. That's it for now. Schedule is kinda busy through Tuesday evening, but I'll be on wherever possible. The Wikipedian (talk) 20:43, April 18, 2014 (UTC)

Irate Black man page completely edited Edit

I just saw that the Irate Black Man article was completely erased, and all it is is just a period and nothing else.  I also read about the victim himself telling the people to remove the article or else he'd sue them.  I think the victim himself got rid of all the information about himTheDamonGant (talk) 18:06, June 10, 2014 (UTC)TheDamonGant

Restored everything and added a protection against new and unregistered users. The IP address itself is apparently in Egypt, so I highly doubt it's really him. Besides, after all these years, why would he really care? xD Thanks for alerting me. The Wikipedian (talk) 21:26, June 10, 2014 (UTC)

Basically, it was just another page-blanking troll, trying to deceive us, and it's a cinch to undo page-blankings, much to their dismay lol. :D Have a great one. The Wikipedian (talk) 22:27, June 10, 2014 (UTC)

Personal information on pages Edit

Hi The Wikipedia. I'm Brandon from Wikia. We recently learned about this wikia and the content on it, such as the pages in Category:Victims. We're a bit concerned by the personal information that's contained on the pages without the permission of the subjects. Can you shed some light on this project for me? Specifically, is the information there actually about real people, i.e. are these fake prank calls? Or, are these real calls with real information about real people? Please let me know ASAP. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea@fandom(talk) 18:47, January 10, 2015 (UTC)

Hello The Wikipedian,

Would you be interested in sponsoring me for Admin status? I'd like to be more helpful on the forum. There are some issues, such as the Angry Black Guy / Other Angry Black Guy controversy , that I could better tackle as an Admin. Let me know what you think.

An example of my work is the Angry Alice page.

Plugee (talk) 17:05, May 12, 2015 (UTC)

I'll consider it, especially since ThePhonePirate is somewhat absent, but no guarantees just yet. It's not something I can simply give away at will. The Wikipedian (talk) 17:17, May 12, 2015 (UTC)
I appreciate that. Thank you.
Plugee (talk) 18:21, May 12, 2015 (UTC)
I mean, you realize that I'd need you to be able to effectively ban vandals, restore deleted/blanked pages, and more, right? You'd probably need training in how to perform certain functions, as with ThePhonePirate. The Wikipedian (talk) 23:00, May 12, 2015 (UTC)
I would be interested in that. I've already started to learn more about how these things work on Wikia. Plugee (talk) 13:10, May 13, 2015 (UTC)
No offense, but the title isn't honorary. You gotta do the job in official capacity, or you can't be an admin. :P The Wikipedian (talk) 15:22, May 15, 2015 (UTC)
Who ever said I wasn't serious? Let's do it.
